Well, I had every intention of going to the Indiana Fever game and Human Rights Campaign event last night, but after enduring a morning of intense rain, gray skies, and flooding to the south, my will to head to a big lesbian basketball game waned pretty quickly. Indeed, I ended up staying on the couch all night after a great arm workout at the gym, and now I am ready to face Sunday, which will include a picnic (in 90 degree heat!) and Pride Skate '08. I will hope to post some pictures and video tomorrow. Cross your fingers!
Since one of my frequent visitors asked, I'll comment about Hillary's concession speech yesterday. As you would expect, I would say it was her best speech of the entire campaign. The Hillary Clinton that began this process as the inevitable winner, is certainly not the same Hillary that stood up yesterday and threw her unwavering support behind Barack Obama, and frankly, I think she did a masterful job of setting herself as the best choice to be Vice President. Beyond the fact that this "unity" ticket would bring together a party that is split right down the middle, it would create a dynamic where Hillary could be the attack dog and Obama could continue to do his froufy self-empowerment shtick (you know, kind of how he stayed clean while his surrogates ran one of the more negative, race driven campaigns in a while). It really would be the best of both worlds, and the people who just cannot stand Hillary will have to shut the hell up and get over whatever it is in their own psyche that sees the worst in everything Hillary does (I'm looking at you Peggy Noonan and Maureen Dowd). NYCweboy has a great blog entry about these two women, and I encourage you to read it.
Wish me luck with the skate!

I agree that it was her best speech. I wasn't completely sold on her but had she made speeches like that from the start, I may have been more in her corner!! Not sure what I'm gonna do now. Have fun with Pride.
