Thankfully, the blahs I have been feeling all week began to dissipate yesterday, and they are pretty much gone today. I finished a couple things yesterday, and it was just generally a good day. I got home from work, and I continued work on the music for Romeo's party. I downloaded a good hour of Cajun style music, and the rest of the nearly seven hours is made of your usual party music (pop, 80s, 90s, a little dance, etc.) I did forget to download House of the Rising Sun, but I am leaving work early today. I am pretty sure I can get that done before meeting Blanch and Romeo tonight for the final store run and the beginning of party prep. It should be a great weekend!

Tyler came over last night after he got back into town from going to a viewing back in his (our) hometown. I know I have mentioned it before, but it is still odd that he and I grew up so close together. He swears he remembers me when I worked as a sacker at Marsh, but I think he's just trying to be cute. He got to my place around 10, and I finished watching Grey's Anatomy and Survivor: China, and then we went to bed. It is amazing how much better I sleep when he is there. Granted, since I am a fitful sleeper, having someone in bed with me tends to make me wake up a lot, and he is actually the opposite and sleeps like a log, which is a good thing since I inherited the snoring gene from my parents. However, even though I don't get as much sleep as I would if it's just me and the cat, I wake up energized and ready for the day to start (get your minds out of the gutter people).

Anyway, I am almost all the way caught up on my Tivo viewing for the week. I still need to watch Damages, which I am committed to through the rest of the season, and I yet to watch Dirty Sexy Money, which I am hoping is pretty good. Here is what I watched last night, thank the devil for Tivo and the efficient viewing of shows:

Reaper (CW): This is a new show that is pretty fantastic from the get go. The show stars Bret Harrison as the slacker, Sam, who finds out on his 21st birthday that his parents sold his soul to the devil in exchange for curing his father of a severe illness. The devil, played by Ray Wise (Laura Palmer's dad on Twin Peaks), shows up to to tell him that as part of the deal, Sam has to work as his bounty hunter capturing souls that have broken out of Hell. Each week, it looks like the Devil will be giving Sam a vessel that will be context appropriate to capturing the soul of the week. This week is was the soul of an arsonist, and Sam was given a supernatural Dirt Devil handvac (how is that for product placement?) to suck the soul back to hell. Taking th schtich even further, when he and his buddy, Bert, capture the soul, they have to take the filled vessel to "Hell on Earth" (The BMV) to make a deposit. Yes, it is goofy. Yes, I LOVED it, and it doesn't hurt that Bret Harrison is dorkily cute.

Private Practice (ABC): This is a spin off of Grey's Anatomy follows Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) to LA to start a new life. The pilot of the episode was actually a supersized of Grey's last season, and after watching that, I have to say that I was a little scared of the show. I really love Kate Walsh, and I was willing to give it a go. While I chose the time slot competitor,Bionic Woman, over watching it on the night of its premiere, I am pleasantly surprised with the first real episode. The vibe is certainly breezier than Grey's, and I pretty much love the entire cast. Merrin Dungy (Alias) was replaced with Audra McDonald in the role of Naomi, Addison's friend and majority owner in the titular private practice, and I have to say it is a great fit. I love Audra from her musical theater background, and I'll try to track down some of her music for you. All in all, this is a good show, and I do not have as many doubts about it as I do Bionic Woman. I have to wonder though if I would give a rat's ass if Kate/Addison were not on the show. Probably not...

Ugly Betty (ABC): Wow, I missed this show, but WOW this episode was downer. Yes, it had its funny moments, but dealing with the after math of "three weeks" earlier, pretty much all of the characters are grieving over something. It was still great, and I enjoyed the episode. However, I need it to be the spritely, funny Betty that I grew to adore last season. I do love the twist that Alex/Alexis comes out of her coma not realizing that he had had a sex change operation. That should be pretty damn funny. I also love the development that Justin will be interning at Mode as a "fashion elf". I was also surprised to see Illeana Douglas as a vapid assistant to Wilhelmina (Vanessa Williams).

Grey's Anatomy (ABC): While I didn't dispise the last half of last season as a lot of people did, I have to say that the season premiere was a somewhat return to form for this series. I was happy to see the new residents giving the exact same speech that Bailey gave them on their first days as interns. I am not sure yet where they are going with Meredith's sister, but I have to say that Meredith was pretty bitchy to her last night. While I have never been a Meredith hater like some, I do think they need to continue to make the title character sympathetic. Also, Izzie's downward spiral continues, and I seriously hope they extract her and George soon, because I really cannot take a prolonged storyline of their love. Shonda Rhimes, the series creator, has said she has heard loud and clear how people feel about the coupling. So, here's to hoping it is over soon!

Survivor: China (ABC): I do not know what it is, but this old warhorse seems energized this season. Maybe it is just my general interest in China, but it just seems that everyone is firing on all cylinders earlier than ever before. I cannot say there is anyone I am rooting for yet, but the gay flight attendant is proving himself to be a lot more competent than when I read his bio online. The reward challenge was hysterical because it took place in a mud pit, and the contestants were literally ripping each other's clothes off. The CBS censor was working overtime on this one! The immunity challenge was one of the more innovated I have seen in a long time. The team needed to use an ornate battering ram to break through a door, and then they needed to slide the ram into puzzle and get out of the maze that was carved into the wood. It was pretty exciting. I was sad to see the big breasted pro-wrestler go home, but hey, if she lost any more weight, she was going to tip over!

Well, that wraps up my television watch for the week. I will probably not be blogging again until Sunday at the earliest. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
