Hey kids. I am sorry that I neglected the blog yesterday, but the blahs from Tuesday continued into Wednesday, and since I ended up going out Tuesday night, I didn't even have any TV reviews to dole out. I also found out yesterday that I am getting a review next Wednesday, and my mind was filled with ways that I can basically tell my boss that I hate my job without getting fired. I obviously have to temper it a bit, but thankfully, she knows that I didn't want to take over the reporting from the very beginning. So, I at least have a pattern to follow. Plus, over the course o of the last year or so, I have pretty much made no bones about the fact that I despise the reporting and that it is not really a good outlet for my specialties. Between now and next Wednesday, I have to come up with a plan to express how much I love working here, but how dissatisfied I am with with the 60% of my job that I was not even hired to do. Fun times!
Last night, I was supposed to get together with Tyler for our usual Wednesday date night. This was pretty important because he has a funeral to go to tonight, and Friday night I will be starting party prep at Romeo's house (huge party this weekend..read about it in his blog). So, I wasn't going to be able to see him until Saturday night at the party, and that is hardly going to be alone time. Plus, since he works third shift on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, that gives us very little time until NEXT Wednesday. Yeah, I was looking forward to it. Well, he took a nap and overslept. I had dinner all planned out, and I was going to "make" him watch America's Next Top Model. :-) So, long story short, I didn't get to see him last night, and I am very grumpy about it.
I did get to catch up on some TV last night, and here are my short run downs.
Eureka (Sci-Fi): This is another summer series that I am hooked on. It is certainly not the most amazing show ever created, and frankly, I get a little tired with the world ending plots that happen almost every week. Eureka is this city inhabited by geniuses who all work for General Dynamics, which is a federally funded research facility. It is kind of like Area 51, and the lead is Jack Carter, the Sheriff who is far from a genius but always manages to use his normal brain to solve every problem. Yes, it is hardly War & Peace, but it is enjoyable. Plus, the acting ensemble is pretty good. We're zooming towards the season finally next week, and I have to say the story is taking a pretty dark turn. The main story was about all the metal in town being turned to gold, which brought up discussions of alchemy and other not really essential stuff, but the main story and the crux of most of the season surrounds Alison Blake's son, who used to be autistic, until he was exposed to an alien force, is quickly mutating into a superhuman, but he will die if the mutation isn't stopped. Of course, it is up to Jack to save the day.
Bionic Woman (NBC): I was really looking forward to the premier of this show, not because I was particularly vested in the original Bionic Woman (I barely remember it), but because it was coming from one of the executive producers behind the excellent reboot of Battlestar Galactica. In fact, the actress, Katee Sackhoff, who plays the evil, first bionic woman, Sara Corvis, plays Starbuck on BSG. Now, I have to say the show had some very promising moments, but it just felt like it was trying to cover too much ground too quickly and none of it very well. The actors themselves are good, but while a lot of the people are saying Sackhoff out shown Michelle Ryan, I have to disagree. I don't know what to say, but my dear Katee just seemed a little stilted. Maybe that was just her way of playing the villain, but I was a little let down by that. Of course, you have to take the pilot episode of any show with a grain of salt. For the most part, they have been cobbled together long before the rest of the series, and they are not necessarily indicative of the quality that is to come. So, I will stick with this one, but because of the glut of shows at 9:00 on Wednesday, it is going to have to grab me soon.
America's Next Top Model (CW): Now we get down to business. Last week was really just the perfunctory whittling down the semifinalists to finalists, which I've always found kind of stupid because they release the names and pictures of the finalists a few weeks before the season starts. The first photo shoot has the girls taking two photos. The first is them glamorously smoking a cigarette, and the second shot is of them with the horrible diseases that may be caused my smoking. Bleeding gums, lung cancer, chemo, tracheotomy, and other various sorts of pain and sores, and these new models, without much direction had to rock it. All in all, they all did pretty well, which is an absolute shock. The worst one was saddled with falling out hair, and she really ended up looking like Sloth from the Goonies, and she ended up going home, which I am sure had more to do with the vacant stare she gave every time Tyra gave her some pointers. The girl who won the night is Tyra's cause for the season. Heather has a form of Autism called Aspergers Syndrome, and while this leads her to be socially awkward and pretty much on a planet of her own, she is beautiful and can take a good picture. However, will be eaten alive by the modeling world. Yes, she can take a good picture, but she is so meek and afraid of everything. I also have to take exception to the fact that she is the second person in the history of ANTM to be from Indiana. The first was a bizarro, pro wrestler who ended up coming out as a lesbian and ended up with the flesh eating disease during the season. Now she is not modeling but she did get knocked up by Johnny Fairplay from Survivor. Ahhh...yeah, so much for being a lesbian. So now, our two reps from Indiana are crazy pseudo lesbians and the slightly autistic. Is it any wonder I have a complex?
Top Chef (Bravo): I have a love hate relationship with this show. I love cooking, and I love seeing what the chef's make, but the judges are just mean in a way that is incredibly nonconstructive. Last night, the final four had to go out into the wilderness and cook fish in 20 minutes for some snooty chef I've never heard of. Granted, if he's not on the Food Network than he doesn't exist in my culinary world, but still. The elimination challenge was cooking for rodeo cowboys and their wives. Wow, talk about haute cuisine. Throw on some back beans and call it a day! I've stuck with it through the season, but I don't think I'll be watching it again. Seriously, the best news that came from the night is that Project Runway premiers on November 14.
Viewing tonight: Survivor: China, Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, and either Damages, Private Practice, or Dirty Sexy Money. Oh, I forgot about Mad Men, but that will certainly be pushed off to another night.

Thank you! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for your thoughts on BIONIC WOMAN and saying that it should be given a chance past a pilot that obviously had a lot of ground to cover in 40 or so minutes!!!
I loved me some Michelle Ryan! :)
Great blog!
Thanks for your thoughts.
