Wednesday, May 14th - Hmmmm Edition

No time for a real post today, but ... Things to make you go hmmmm...
  • So, it is really not a problem that our "presumptive" nominee lost West Virginia by 41%?
  • So, it is really not a problem that our "presumptive" nominee obviously has an issue with white, middle income Americans?
  • So, it is really not a problem that when you count all the people who have voted up until now, a different candidate from our "presumptive" nominee has the majority of the popular vote -- a trend that will continue when he loses Kentucky next week by a similar margin?
  • So, it is really not a problem when you tally the current state by state polls with both Democratic candidates against McCain, our "presumptive" nominee loses the Electoral College with 248 votes to McCain's 290, whilst the competitor wins 290 votes to McCain's 247.
Chew on it folks...

Let us not forget that the average West Virginian has been quoted on the streets leading up to the primary yesterday saying things like, "I can't vote for Obama, he's Muslim and his wife is an atheist".. I mean, lets keep it at least a little real here..

Dear SassaFrass:
In Ohio, Clinton won white voters 64-34. In Pennsylvania, Clinton won whites 63-37. Indiana? Whites went for Clinton 60-40. Massachusetts? Whites went for Clinton 58-40. Rhode Island? 63-31 for Clinton. North Carolina? 61-37. And the same in Arkansas, Tennessee, Maryland, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, Oklahoma, Arizona, Missouri and so on.

I think the problem goes a lot deeper than the "Average West Virginian" as you so Eloquently stated.

Well that is to be expected in the primaries. I would imagine that most white democrats that went for Hillary in all of the states you listed would go for Obama come November. I think most people can agree (at least those who read this blog) that McCain isn't the answer regardless of who he is running against.

No, Dear Sassafrass that is NOT to be expected in the primaries… and you are completely naive if you believe that most of the white democrats that went for Hillary in those states will go for Obama. There is a reason they’re called “Regan Democrats” They didn’t go for Gore, they didn’t go for Kerry and they more than likely will not go for Obama.

Wake up Sassafrass and realize that your candidate clearly has a problem that all the HOPE and CHANGE in the world can’t fix!

With all due respect, this post cannot be taken seriously. Hillary Clinton won one small state, WV, by a 40% margin and somehow casts doubt on Barack Obama's candidacy? Please. Obama has trounced Clinton by bigger margins than that in other states (see Chesapeake state primaries).

We don't need a general election choice of Republican vs. Republican-lite. I've had enough of the Clinton's triangulating, centrist, middle-of-the-road politics on everything.

Clinton is about saying whatever she thinks will get her elected. Perfect example was this insane Gas Tax holiday gimmick. That shows how desparate she was.

On the subject of white, working class people, plenty of them voted for Obama. Let's not forget that Obama has won a lot of "white" states, like Kansas and Idaho.

And here's the other thing. Either candidate will win the usual Democratic states -- CA, NY, VT, MA, etc. However, Clinton will lose the south and the midwest as Democrats usually do. Obama won't. He's far more electable in conservative areas like KS, NB, LA, GA, and VA. Those are Republican states and they hate her; they don't hate him. He can pick some of those up. She can't. It's over. Clinton is losing for reason. She does not represent the change we need as a nation or the good judgment we need in a president (see Iraq War vote).

Look, I have a lot of respect for her personally. She has accomplished far more for herself and this country than I ever will.
She is an inspiration to many, I'm sure. But she is not the right person for the job.
