- The weekend was crazy, as I expected. On Friday and Saturday night, I ran an American Idol type karaoke competition at the Metro. My friend, Yoplait, runs the prelims throughout the year, but for Grand Finals, he likes to just do the Ryan Seacrest thing. So, last year, I took over as stage manager/mom to make sure everyone is in place on time. It ran pretty smoothly, but it was a long, long couple of nights. I was at the bar for 6-8 hours both nights, and while anyone who reads this blog might think that is typical, I really could have used a break.
- On Sunday, I had a family day for both Mother's Day and celebrating my birthday with them, because I do not know if I'll be in any condition to do anything on this coming Sunday. We also took the opportunity to go up to the hospital to visit Grandma, who is doing very well, now that she is out of her drug induced haze (que up "White Rabbit"). She will probably be released this week to a care facility so that she can get back on her feet (literally). After we left the hospital, we went to Adobo Grill for dinner, which was the place the Mean Girls ate at for Dining Out for Life. It is always weird taking my family to reasonibly nice restaurants, because I think they'd be happy at some place with unlimited chips and salsa or the ability to throw peanut shells on the floor, but it was my birthday. So, what if my neice spilled her drink on herself and then proceeded to cry to high heaven like she'd been shot or something? I ended up with $240 in gift cards from Best Buy. So, I will definitely be picking up Wii Fit when it comes out next week. Woo Hoo!
- After leaving the fam on Sunday, I met up with Romeo at the Miss Hoosier 250 Pageant, which was quite possibly the worst drag short of the blind and hunchbacked ones I've seen at Illusions (so.not.kidding). As some of you may or may not know, May is a big month in Indianapolis because of the Indy 500 race. There are a lot of activities going on, and Indy Pride has a tricycle race as a fundraiser. The pageant goes along with that. It was an okay diversion though, and I got to drunkenly insult a metrosexual man and try to talk him into popping the question to his girlfriend in a gay bar.
- Monday was back to work as usual, and I really didn't get anything done. I finished up my normal Monday stuff, and then I decided to stay late. I needed to work on the poster for the Pride Skate, especially because we were having a meeting that night. So, what does Compy McComplicatersons do? I decide that the web graphic design software (Macromedia Fireworks..now Adobe) that I've been using since 1996 wasn't good enough for what I needed to do, and I should learn Photoshop. Now, I don't know how many of you are familiar with Photoshop, but it could quite possibly one of the most complicated pieces of commercial design software outside of Flash. The reason it is so complex is because it will pretty much do everything except light your cigarette after sex. Fireworks has functioned well for me over the years, but it is definately focused on graphics for the web, which just is not the same as for publications. Since it looks like I will (hopefully) be taking over the Indy Pride website, I figured it was high time I upgrade my knowledge. I...am...an...idiot! Though the poster did turn out pretty well for a draft.
- Last night, after getting home from the meeting, I watched Battlestar Galactica (HOLY FRAK!) from Friday, and then I went to bed.

Tuesday, May 13th - Is May Really Almost Half Over?
I just wanted to do a quick entry today. I cannot believe how quickly May is swooshing by, with my birthday already coming up on Saturday.

Atypical would be spending only an hour.
