Tuesday, May 6th - Primarily Cluttered Mind pt. 1

I've obviously been a busy bee since Friday, and with today being the Primary we have been working so hard to get to, I really won't have much time to myself until tomorrow night. Good LORD, I am looking forward to that.

Since I don't really feel like stringing together a narrative for the weekend, I am going to do it under headings:

Friday
- Big Gay for Hillary Party - I left work early on Friday with the hopes of taking a nap and getting to the gym, but unfortunately, neither of those things happened. Oy, slacker! I had agreed to go over to the house that the party was going to be held at to setup a wireless network so that the campaign could solicit donations directly to the Hillary Clinton website. Even though I knew it was going to be cinch and an easy thing to do, they still insisted that I get there at 7:00, a full two hours before the party began. 20 minutes later, I decided to get out from underfoot and head down to Metro, where Blanche and Romeo were going to meet.

After realizing it made more sense to go to English Ivy's because of its proximity to the party and Greg's, I contacted them and told them to meet me there. English Ivy's is not really a place I frequent because it really caters more to gays of a certain age. It is not that it is bad, but I've just never considered it on my list of places to visit frequently. I went up to the bar and sat there waiting for the boys, and I felt like a slab of beef being thrown to old lions. Thankfully, I didn't have to wait too long, and I occupied my time with the video game machine.

After Romeo and Blanche arrived, we drank a couple cocktails, and then we made our way to the party. It was sort of a surreal start to the weekend. It was the usual crowd of "A" gays and Pride folks, that we have integrated ourselves into this year. I actually had a really good time, and I am feeling more and more relaxed around these folks. It really takes a while for me to warm up to people, and I have to say it is nice to broaden my horizons in this city.

As for the special guests at the party, Ellen Greene was definitely insane, but I think you kind of expect that from Broadway stars. She did sing "Not While I'm Around" from Sweeney Todd, which is just one of my favorite tunes ever. She's still a cracker though. And Ronnie from Make Me A Supermodel was an absolutely great person. I've never been too star struck by anyone because I figure be it Hillary Clinton, one of the most powerful women in the world, or Ronnie from some "D" list reality show, they still put their pants (or pant suits) on one leg at a time. So, I didn't fawn over him like a lot of the other guys were, and when we all got to Greg's, I actually hung out with him and his BF for a pretty long time. Great guy, seriously, and at least he is using is quasi-celebrity for social change. Plus, he told me I have great arms!

(ed. I'm about half way through Saturday, and it is quite long. So, I'm going to make it pt. 2)
