I didn't end up doing anything on Friday night, which was pretty much fine with me. I finished up my French Lick blog, and then I spent the rest of the night watching TV and messing around on the computer. Of course, these alone times are when I start to rethink things about Tyler. I still stand by my decision, but ya know, when you're sitting home alone on a Friday night, then anyone might have second thoughts.
I got up early on Saturday to head out to my parent's house to do laundry. Yes, you read that right. I'm 32 years old, and I do my laundry at my parent's house. Since I still rent and my apartment does not have washer and dryer hookups, this is pretty much a free alternative to doing the laundry here or going somewhere. In this instance, I choose the free. When I think of all the money I have saved over the course of my life and the fact that my parents have softened water which makes my clothes last longer, I really don't care that I still do it there. If anything, it is a nice anecdote for my blog or memoirs. Plus, it keeps me in the will.
Saturday night, I had made plans with HR and Blanche to go see Elizabeth: The Golden Age, and then meet up with Romeo and some other people to see one of their co-workers do drag at Illusions. You can read more about that establishment in a previous blog. Another funny thing, is that when you Google "Illusions V Indianapolis," my blog is the third entry. I should get some free booze or something. Anyway, Romeo's leg was still bothering him, so he decided to stay home from work and go get it checked out just to be safe. Since he didn't have to work, Mom went to pick him up and we all went to the movie together. I really do not have a lot to say about the movie. I liked it, but it it certainly was not as good as the first one. Cate Blanchett was wonderful, as usual, but the script was lacking a lot of heart, and I think they just tried to cram too much of the politics into it. It is like they couldn't decide between a political drama or a bodice ripping romance. Which by the way, the dresses were fantastic!
After the movie, we all went to another little bar by Illusions called Cosmo's. It is just your typical townie type bar, with a jukebox, darts, and pool table. I think they may serve food, though no one offered to give us a menu. I guess we had the look of drinkers. We just had a few drinks, threw some darts, and made our way to Illusions.
The last time we were at Illusions was for the retirement party for Ricki Summers. She is the topic of that last blog entry. Lo and behold, there she is back in drag. It just goes to show that just like George Foreman, you can't keep a "good" drag queen down. All in all, it was a fun night though we all got pretty roaringly drunk. Of course, the drunker I got, the more mopey I became about the whole Tyler situation, but I started texting my friends so that I would resist the urge to text him. Thankfully, I didn't do it. Once I sobered up, I drove home and went to bed. I got up on Sunday around 10:30. Since I had a couple deadlines on Monday, I opted to go into work on my day off and get some things done. Seven hours later, I stumble home and ordered a pizza. Lord, I felt pretty bad about eating that, but it is hard to resist the urge for pizza on a Sunday night, especially when my inhibitions are low. Growing up, my father made pizza for us every Sunday night. So, it is one of those instinctual things for me. It just doesn't help the waist line!
