of free time reading it because I did not want to stumble across any spoilers on the internet. There are too many assholes out there who just love to post spoilers....very childish and annoying. I am happy to say I finished the book this morning, and it really did live up to the hype. We sometimes get jaded when writers tell us they have a plan for an entire series because most of the time when a book becomes immensely popular you get the sneaking suspicion that the series length is fluid to milk us for every dollar. However, as things started to come together in this very long book, I am really amazed at the mind of J.K. Rowling. She was able to bring back characters and themes that we haven't seen for many books, and everything got tied up so well, that you just cannot assume that Rowling didn't have this all planned out from the beginning. It was pretty fantastic, and now, I'm going to work on reading the whole series because I know I have forgotten a lot, especially from the last book. Also, I can safely say that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is going to be a tremendously expensive movie. The Battle for Hogwarts is going to be major spectacle, and it better be in IMAX 3D or whatever the prevailing technology is in 2010.Backing up to Friday, I still was sort of in my not-feeling work stage, and while I did make some progress on the final report that I have due, I know I didn't work as hard as I could. It is due in a week, and I'm really hoping that I can get it all done. This time I am bringing in interns to do the dirty work! So, that should help!
As you may recall, I was to meet Tyler out on Friday to hang out/meet some of his friends, including his best friend in the entire world. I'm always nervous about meeting new people because I never seem to know what to say and my sense of humor can be a bit hard to take at first. I usually end up being really quite and just sort of fading into the woodwork, which is only exacerbated by the fact that we were at a beer garden (again!) with a live band playing. I'm partially deaf, especially in very loud environments, and that really isn't conducive to getting to know someone or exposing my sparkling personality (stop laughing!). To make matters worse, something I ate for lunch really did not agree with me, and while I wasn't going to skip out on meeting his friend, I really wasn't in a social mood and I wasn't drinking either!
Jennie DeVoe was playing at the Rathskeller, and she has a decidedly...how shall we say...lesbian following. She really is a great live performer, very Janis Joplin-esque, but with all the flat tops and bad outfits around, you would think I had stepped into Lilith Fair. While there weren't a lot of bull dykes around, there
were a lot of pretty lipstick type lesbians, which are generally very fun to hangout with, and being a group of attractive gay men in a sea of estrogen mixed with a dash of testosterone we were having a pretty good time, despite the fact that I felt like my insides were going to rot out. Frequently, I would get people stopping me asking me if I worked at the, well, place that I work, and I could not for the life of me recall who those people were. I guess it is easy recognizing one of the few males that work at a domestic violence shelter, but how the heck am I supposed to remember every volunteer we have? On top of that, there were some pretty eccentric straight people there, too. I am including a picture of someone who REALLY needs to lay off the collagen. It was humorous to watch her try to eat. I was afraid she couldn't get her lips closed enough to keep the food from falling out.Hmmm, this is ending up longer than I had planned, and I still haven't touched upon the Drag Queen Birthday/Retirement party on Saturday night. So, I will come back later with the rest of the weekend. I'll leave you with a couple pictures from Friday night.

This is myself and Tyler. No, you don't get to see his beautiful eyes. Well, unless you see us out in Indy. :)

This is the group from Friday night. I didn't ask them all for Blog names, which is why they weren't directly referred to in here. We're going to the Big Gay Campground on Saturday with the two other guys in this picture. So, they'll have to choose names, like it or not. Oh, and the girl who popped up between Tyler and I, just decided she was going to crash our picture. So, I'm not blocking her out. ;)
