The night took an extreme turn as I was pulling into my parking lot after being at the Metro and Greg's. I live a block from work, and as I pulled up to put in my code, I see a fire truck come down Meridian St and turn east. I sit there to see where it is going, and it turns down the street that the Shelter is on. Btw, I work for a very large domestic violence shelter. While I am Director of IT, I am pretty much in charge of everything that has an electrical current, including our security system. Anyway, 10 seconds later, my cell phone starts to ring, and it is our security company calling to say there is a fire alarm going off in the maintenance room, and that the fire department has been dispatched. Well, DUH! Thanks for the call, bud. I call the Shelter to see if everything is ok, and the front desk assured me that it was. I didn't think twice that emergency protocol had not been followed because they really aren't my staff. I get more calls from security, and then I get a call that the shelter is being evacuated. I changed into a more appropriate shirt (thinking correctly that a tight teeshirt that says "I'm looking forward to regretting this" is not appropriate attire for a fire), and I ran, literally, over there to see what I could do.
Of course, as soon as I get over there and all the ladies are out, it starts to rain. Remember what day it is? Friday the 13th, ugh! Now, these women and children have been put through the ringer. If they have taken the step to be in a shelter, then you know they have pretty much hit rock bottom. I felt so bad for them to have to be sitting outside, in the rain, sirens going off in the shelter, and firemen roaming around. I can only imagine how much harder this is for them. I decide to go back into the shelter and get some sheets and blankets so people can at least stay warm, and I go in and get a chair for a woman who is on crutches. I contemplate going into the food pantry and getting food for everyone, but at that point, the executive director shows up with her husband. She's all business, but I could see the fear in her eyes. She may be aloof and distant, but she has put her heart and soul into making this one of the best facilities in the country. So, that kind of brings it home a little for me, and I also wonder if my breathe smells like rum and diet and if I reek of smoke. The shelter director and my (sorta) boss are the next to arrive, and by then, everything is under control, and they've discovered that it wasn't a giant combustion fire. It was merely a water pump getting really hot and melting some electronics. It certainly could have been worse, but if anything, it exposed just how much improvement we need for the next time. It also highlighted that I need to move. While living a block from work is convenient in the mornings, it sucks to basically be Baywatch, without the red swimsuit and Pam Anderson's tits!Onto more fluffy stuff, Big Brother 8! I actually got a comment yesterday from my
blog idol, London Preppy! :) When I saw the email in my inbox about the comment, my eyes almost popped out of my head. It is easy to forget when you read someone's blog that they really exist and aren't some novelization on the web. His comment concerned BB8 and the hotness of Mike. Well, today, I show Nick, who is just downright gorgeous, except for some unfortunate hair. He is an interesting player to follow. I am not sure if he is bi or not, but while he has flirted with every woman in the house, he has talked openly about giving a guy a blow job and his top 5 men he would sleep with...not to mention allowing the two gay guys to live out their massage and cuddle fantasies. I'm just unsure of if this is strategy or the truth. I'm going to choose the truth because hey, I can dream right? I've given you a few pics to salivate over. Now that Jen is Head of Household, I'm hoping she doesn't try to put him up for eviction. He called her out on a lie, and she kind of showed that she's a crazy bitch. So, anything could happen. :)
Well, it is time to resume my reporting day. After being here at 3:30am, I am already on my second cup of caffeine. Something tells me this is going to be a three or four cup day!

I also fear for BB8's Nick. He's being too obvious about flirting with everyone in the house...and traditionally, the hot guys always go early.
I'm really getting a kick out of your blog...honestly, how do you even remember all these details of your days?
Keep it up...I'm a particular fan of your BB8 and Days updates...i.e...I hadn't gotten to the recent HOH competition episode yet, but your revelation that Jen is HOH will save me an hour's time...I'll be able to get to Metro earlier!
Did you watch it on Sunday? Jen is so insane, but it made it pretty entertaining. :)
As far as remembering, I sometimes fear I forget more than I actually record. :) I tend to be verbose as it is. I think this would end up a Tolstoy-esque blog if I remembered more!
