Heat Wave

2011 has been a year of extreme weather.   From the super cold and major ice storms of winter to the first time in my recollection we've had a severe heat warning this week.   I'm sure this is going to kill my electric bill, but I am definitely a creature of air conditioning.   I've taken to setting it down to 68 at night because I simply cannot sleep if I'm hot.   I actually don't even sleep with blankets in the winter, if that gives you any idea how ridiculous I am.

Anyway, yesterday was pretty uneventful, which was good since I didn't really sleep the night prior.   Work has been kind of slow lately, but I am pretty sure the next few months are going to be crazy.  So, I am enjoying it while I can.   We did have a fire alarm in the shelter yesterday, and I'm happy to say it is the first time someone has pulled a fire alarm in my 6 years here.  Of course, since it was the first time, I had no idea what to do.   Yeah, fun...

Other than that, I went home and  plopped on the couch, and I really didn't get back up off of it.   I should have gone to the gym, but I am still pretty sore for the first few days of my new workout.  Which meant I successfully talked myself into taking a "rest" day.   We'll see if do that today, too!

I finished Tina Fey's BossyPants, which I cannot recommend highly enough.   I really laughed through all of it, and it is a very good, quick read.

I also got a text out of the blue from a blast from the recent past...    I don't know if that means he wants to rekindle or what, but who knows :-)

The goal today is to not melt.   God, I miss my old office where the AC was set to 68 because the network server was in my office.  *sigh*

What I wouldn't do for a 68 degree office -- seriously. I have a fan on me now on 'high' and the temp in the office says '77.' It will be 95+ today with 95% humidity (at least).

I am totally looking forward to the occasional 90+ day rather than 6 months of it at a time.

It was absolute heaven, though not so much for the people on my AC circuit. Especially since the thermostat was in my office... I keep meaning to bring a thermometer. If I didn't have a fan on me, it would be unbearable. It just sucks because my new office was the one on the main floor that didn't have any work done to it. So, I don't think it is tied into the new/better duct work. Blah...
