What A Drag! 2 - The Sunday Boogaloo

As promised, the second part of my weekend fantasia, which ended up being way too much drag, but it is not like it wasn't entertaining.

After being an extremely good boy on Saturday night and getting into bed around midnight, I got a good night's sleep. My goal in the morning was to find DVD-RW that work in my father's video recorder so I could record the Indy Pride Bag Ladies Country & Gospel Brunch. I don't know what the deal was, but every one I purchased didn't work. So, I ended up just taking pictures like I usually do, which was fine by me. Plus, with all the people there moving around, I had visions of the tripod falling over and the camera ending up in pieces. So, it's a good thing.

I arrive at Talbott Street at 11:00 to see if there is anything that needs to be done. It is a beehive of activity as various Bag Ladies were preparing for the show, the Talbott staff was getting the tables together, and the Hoaglin Fine Catering folks got the buffet up and running. Backing up a little, for those who are not aware, the Bag Ladies are the second longest running HIV/AIDS fundraising organization in the country. For lack of a better term it is meant to be campy drag queens. They are in their 29th year, and after being connected with other organizations throughout the years, they have been a part of Indy Pride, Inc. for four years. You can find out more about them at the Indy Pride website (which I *cough* am the webmaster).

Anyway, last year was the first year for the Country & Gospel Brunch, and to say it was a train wreck was a bit of an understatement. There were too many participants, with the show going nearly 4 hours, and I do not think anyone knew just how popular the event was going to be. So, the line was long and they ran out of bacon. Enough said!

This year was 1000% better, from the 30 minute pre-show with Sequoia Pentecost and Rachel Yoder and pretty much everyone of the fantastic ladies staying on theme. So, if and when there is a third one and you're in Indianapolis, you should definitely come to take a look.

Then after that was over, I spent the rest of the afternoon hanging with friends, only to return to Talbott Street to support our friend and former Bag Lady Queen, Sam Cronk aka Aurora Diamonds, as she competed in Talbott's Night of Talent, with the prize of a night in the cast of the Ladies of Legend. She did an amazing job, and I'm proud of her.

All in all, I was a bit dragged out. :-)
