I've Impressed Myself

So, I'm back after a long hiatus from blogging. My ambition was to launch a whole new blog, new address, and host it myself. The problem was that I never found a template that I liked.

I may still launch it, but for now, I'm back at Blogger.

Anyway, the reason I am so impressed with myself is that I found this current template, which I liked immediately. However, there were certainly some things about it that I did not like. So, I dug into the code and changed them.

Now, for anyone who knows me, you know I've been designing websites since back before Netscape was Netscape and the WWW was pretty darn new to the public. I've never considered myself more than just proficient, and as things have moved towards database driven and other technologies, I really haven't had the chance to wrap my brain around it. I keep doing what I'm doing, which is fine for the clients I have. Well, Blogger is now XML based, and I'm just thrilled I was able to reverse engineer some things. That is how I taught myself to design in the first place, and I guess it is good to know that I still have the mindset for it. Teaching an old dog new tricks, if you will. :)

Anyway, I'm back. I'm not sure if I'll be posting at my the heady pace that I was going back in the day, mainly because things like Twitter and Facebook make it easier to shoot my thoughts out into the ether.
