I'm feeling lazy this morning. So, I am going to forgo my planned post on the whining Obamabots out there complaining that there isn't enough change in his appointments thus far. I'm going to let it percolate for a little while.
Instead, I'm going to post some performances from the American Music Awards last night. I haven't found any official video yet, which means these YouTube videos could come down at any time, but here they are for now.
The American Music Awards have always been a bastard child to the Grammy Awards, and while it tends to be more performance heavy and not as eclectic (re: The Grammy for Best Polka Instrumental goes to...), I've always found it funny that the Grammy's wouldn't allow anyone who performed on the AMA's to perform on their show. Of course, I think this has changed since the AMA's moved back to November, which was really do to the Oscar's moving back to February and creating an awards show log jam in January. Anyway...I digress...
Keep in mind, that I only caught the last hour of the show, but I was treated to what I have to figure is the best performance of the night, because it was really one of the best performances I've seen since Mary J. Blige ripped into "No More Drama" on the Grammy's a few years back. Annie Lennox, who was receiving an award of merit for her musical and humanitarian efforts, brought down the house with her raw version of "Why." Yes, her voice has aged a lot (haven't we all) since her heyday, but Wow...seriously:
Okay...MAJORLY PISSED OFF. I started writing this before I actually had a video, because I figured SOMEONE would have converted this, but NO, I have all the Mily Cyrus or The Jonas Brothers (who sucked btw) I could ever want (which is none), but not the best performance of the night.
Grrr....I will update when I have the performance. I found a version of it from the 25th Anniversary of Arista records, but it wasn't even remotely as raw as last nights. So, I'm not posting it..
Grrr
