Another busy weekend, which actually wasn't as busy as it was going to me. Blanche and I had originally planned on going to Detroit this weekend to visit a college friend of mine, but we both just got to a point where we weren't feeling it. The good thing is that SueAnn is going to be in town in October for homecoming, which also happens to be Bag Lady Tour weekend. He has NO idea what he is in for. :)
Friday, we went out again to promote the Fish Fry and celebrate Maestro's Birthday. We were all pretty tired, so most of the others tapered off early, but I was having a good time, so I stayed out pretty late. In an effort to get more exercise in (down two pounds WOOT!), I have started walking to all the bars that in reasonably close to me, which is pretty much the main weekend ones, so that helps. Though, walking up Meridian at 3am, is probably not the best modus, but we'll see. Don't Taze Me, dude!
Saturday, I got up and pretty much decided I was going to go the Penrod Arts Fair, which is a giant festival on the grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art. I haven't been able to go for the past few years because of SueAnn's party, but since it was such a beautiful day, I really couldn't stay in. I used to do the website for that organization, and I've always enjoyed walking around the grounds, even if I can't afford most of the stuff to buy. I took a lot of nature pictures, but I forgot to take them off my camera. Oops!
This year, I biked to the grounds, which ended up being a 20 mile round trip. It was great to do this because I've only ever biked on the Monon Trail and the Canal, which is part of the White River Trail, and this path took me up the Monon to Broad Ripple, over the Central Canal Towpath past Butler University (my alma mater), then right directly behind the Art Museum. It was quite a haul there, and then after walking around the grounds for a couple hours (with a stop off at the Adobo Grill booth for guacamole and pork tacos), I got my bike out of parking, and continued along the tow path until I picked up the White River Greenway. This is where it got kinda odd, with actually going through a heretofore unknown subdivision right in downtown Indy, but it met up with the Canal at the Indianapolis Zoo and IUPUI, which is familiar turf for me.
Saturday night, I met up with Halle Pino (Romeo) and Summer Clearance (Blanche), and we went out on the town to promote the fish fry. It was a fun time. We went to Olly's, Cosmos, Illusions, Metro, English Ivy's, Greg's, Talbott Street, and back to Olly's. It was quite a full night. I'm sure Halle will give a blow by blow account on her blog, so I won't fill the space here.
Sunday, I woke up a little slowly, and it was kind of chilly and rainy. So, after the night on the town and the weather, we opted not to go to the Trumps for the pool party, which was fine because I decided to go and buy an iPhone! Woo Hoo! My phone had seen better days, and when I saw that Best Buy was going to start carrying them, I looked longingly at the left over gift cards from my birthday. It ended up costing a bit more than I'd anticipated, but it was full steam ahead by then. So, I got it into my hot little hand and promptly went home to play around with it. I do love it so far, but I'm sort of deathly afraid to drop it. We'll see how that goes.
Then last night, I met up with a new friend, who we'll call LonelyBoy (a shout out to you Gossip Girl fans). He's 23 and he just broke up with his twat of a bf after 5 and a half years. Yeah, you read that right. So, he's a little lost puppy, and I'm trying to give him some pointers. He's relatively new to town and he's met some bad people, so, since Romeo and I were going to a Colts Party with the Pride folks, I decided it would be good for him to get out and meet some good people. I think he had a pretty good time, and it took his mind off the breakup, at least for a little bit. And thankfully, some of the more grabby drunk Pride Mafia members didn't stick their hands down his pants (yet). Though if I take him to the pool next weekend (only two more left), I'm sure that'll end.
So, anyway, that was the weekend that was. I'm going to end with Pink's performance of "So What" from the MTV Music Awards. Wow...love it!
