I am 32 year old gay male from Indianapolis, Indiana, and I support Hillary Clinton for president in 2008. Anyone who has read this blog for any length of time or, you know, has eyes can see that, and I do not want to bore you with repeating myself.
I do want to say that despite her flaws, Hillary Clinton is by far the best candidate to deliver us from the insanity that has been the last 8 years of George W. Bush. This is not the time for ideology. This is the time to grab ourselves out of a downward spiral and re-assert ourselves in the World. Yes, she can be strident. Yes, she sometimes reminds you of your mother or mean 5th grade teacher, but my vote is going for the person whom I believe will resurrect the country that I know and love. I am not voting for national drinking buddy or for the person who can most inspire me through words. I want a real leader, with real ideas, and real plans on how to get them done.
When it comes down to it, the policy differences between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are pretty slim, but to me, nothing can prove the biggest difference between the two than how they spent their days before Super Tuesday. Barack Obama, with his light on details but heavy on hyperbole stump speech went to New York to proselytize to 3,000 people, while his wife, Oprah, Caroline Kennedy, and Maria Shriver went to California to tell women that it is okay to "hope" and change their vote (again, light on the details). Hillary Clinton met with former colleagues at Yale in support of children's issues, and then she held a nationwide town hall meeting that was simulcast online and on the Hallmark Channel, where she spoke at great length about her positions and gave details of how she is going to govern when she is president. See the difference? Substance vs. Rhetoric. I want substance. I want a candidate who will actually SPEAK about his or her plans. Obama does not do this. Hillary Clinton does.
I could go further, but I will end it here. If you want further details on my position or how I came around to it, check out my Hillary Clinton for President entry from July or just click the "politics" tag.
Go Hillary!
