Thursday, January 10, 2008 - Sleeping is for Wimps

Wednesday was not a productive day for me mainly because I had stayed up until 1:00 am watching coverage of the New Hampshire Primaries. I did this knowing full well that Wednesday was to be a workout day in my new three morning a week routine. Talk about stupid! Even though I went to bed so late/early, I still set my alarm for 5:20 a.m. in the hopes that I would actually get up. Surprisingly, after only hitting the snooze once, I jumped out of bed and proceeded as normal. This time I weighed myself before consuming the 50 ounces of liquid that is my morning workout ritual (a pre and post workout protein shake, 2 cups of coffee, and whatever water I drink during the workout), and I confirmed my weight loss as being 4 pounds so far. Woo hoo! If only the rest came off this easily!

The other demotivating factor is that I'm working on a component of a report that is so mind numbingly boring, I really make an effort to do anything else. The only problem is that with it being mid-year, grant-wise, I have a lot more than my usual reports to get done. So, I'm only hurting myself. On top of that, we had a going away party for our shelter director, and the pitch-in lunch seemed to take hours. So, I was just not motivated to restart my work when I got back. I made a Caramel-Vanilla Cheesecake, btw (with homemade caramel)!

The best part about yesterday is that I finally got to see Tyler. Our schedules do not meet up very well in a good week, but it has literally been two weeks since we've been alone together. This was great...though we sat up talking until 1am, which was not so great (well, content-wise great...for sleep deprivation, not so good). I probably have a total of 8 hours sleep in the last two days...

Weeeeeee!

I think my diet is finally stabilizing, which is good. Unfortunately, I see two big hurdles to my next weigh-in for The Mean Girls Biggest Loser. The first is after work (and probably into the night) drinks with Mom on Friday at a place with a lot of fried goodness, and the second is my niece's birthday on Sunday, in which she wants to go to the Olive Garden. She's 5...so I won't comment on her taste level. Ugh..gotta be good...gotta be good...
