November 7, 2007 - Catching Up

I am sitting here with my morning coffee, which is sort of a threadbare way of starting things, but when you take into consideration that morning coffee has only been a part of my life for a few months, then maybe it isn't quite so hoary. Anyway, I realize I never really got around to "Bloated, pt 2," and while certainly great things happened during Saturday and Sunday, I am going to gloss over them a bit, because lord knows I write too much anyway. Plus, I might incorporate some of what happened in future posts...Pulp Fiction style.

Saturday was laundry day, which as you know is at my parent's house. I also had to help them finish the setup of their spanking new AT&T Uverse package. For the uninitiated, it is basically AT&T's fiber optic service, which delivers phone, internet, and television all over the same wire. As with any brand new service, it has its issues, but it is pretty sweet in the end. I really want this badly because it is a heck of a lot cheaper than what I am paying for cable and internet at the moment, but also because you can RECORD FOUR TELEVISION SHOWS AT ONCE! It will be taking my television addiction to the next level. I'll be like Britney Spears of the couch potato set.

After leaving my fam, I met up with some friends for dinner at the new Weber Grill in downtown Indy. Venus, Liberty, Stripper Mom, and Stella were all there, along with Stella's husband, whom I suppose would be Stanley, if we're doing a Streetcar theme. Three of them were going to the John Mellencamp concert, and the rest of us just met up for dinner since we hadn't gotten together in a while. I enjoy being the token gay in this group, and it certainly helps that they all laugh at my jokes. All in all, dinner was pretty great, and I'm looking forward to tailgating with them at the IU/Purdue game a week from Saturday.

Sunday was pretty much boredom personified. Heck, so was Saturday night, because it was an early dinner, and I was home by 8. I actually went to bed at a Daylight Savings Time adjusted time of Midnight. That is kind of lame! Anyway, I slept a full 9 hours, and then I got up and read the newspaper. I was looking forward to going to watch the Colts Vs. Patriots, but I really had nothing to do until that time. After some confusion as to where we were going to go to watch the game, we finally settled in at the big booth at Downtown Olly's, and once Romeo got off work, it was a complete set. Blanch, Mom, HR, Xena Lesbian Princess, Banshee (Xena's friend), Romeo, and I all proceeded to eat and drink ourselves into oblivion. It was a good game, but unfortunately, our Colts didn't win, but we all had a good time. The reason I am calling Xena's friend, Banshee, is because she comes from the line of sports watchers who yell at the screen thinking that the refs can actually hear them. We actually started a drinking game for every time she yelled "SHUT UP, ______." I am pretty sure that is why we were so toasted.

After everyone decided to leave, I opted to ride my bike home instead of taking Mom up on the offer to drive. I think it would be genuinely funny (down the road) if my first ever DUI was on a bicycle, but the cool air certainly did me some good. However, Romeo got to witness another drunken emotional breakdown akin to what happened on Friday, which pretty much stemmed from me walking into my bedroom to get my phone, reaching for it, and all of a sudden the light comes on and it is a text from Tyler. Seriously, that shit only happens in movies. Anyway, a lot has happened between here and there, and I am not the pile of mush that I once was. In fact, I feel pretty empowered, and the healing process began in earnest. I am being deliberately cryptic here for reasons that I will talk about much later. The good news is that I am okay, and that even though I have been spiraling down, my friends have been there for me in ways that have not always been evident at the time. I am truly a fortunate individual.

Well, I believe that is enough for now. I am planning on posting again today, because it is post-Election Day, and even though it is not a Tuesday Talk, it is time to talk Indianapolis politics...and my ripped pants.

Your reference about posting in the style of Pulp Fiction is a good description of how my mind works on a daily basis. It's all there; not in the correct order.

I was a bit concerned that you hadn't posted Bloating Part 2. :-)

TOWANDA!! I rather enjoy seeing these mini-breakdown/epiphanies; it's kind of like watching a phoenix. You'll either come out stronger or we'll see you on the news and do a collective pearl clutch.
