Not much to talk about from yesterday. I finished up my monthly reporting, and my god, I need to get out of doing this by this time next year. oy!

I started my new workout routine yesterday, and it was nice to be back on a program. I really didn't realize how much of a rut I was in. Also, considering that this was mostly resistance training using bands and body weight, I think I'll be lucky to survive this. I am SORE today. It will also be challenging because it requires me to go to the gym everyday. Even when I was working with a trainer, I still only did weights three times a week with cardio on the off days, but I am really looking forward to getting my body back.

It should be interesting because this program is more of a bulking up routine than I have done in the past. Once I got into shape with my trainer, my personal work has been to maintain what I have. Due to genetics, I am of the body type that is either going to be bulky muscular or bulky fat, so I tried very hard not to become one of those thick necked freaks of nature, but it is definitely time to shock my body back into order. Plus, with winter coming on, this is the perfect time to do this, especially since I will have less ability to bike here in the near future. This is a 12 week program, and I will be posting progress reports.

On the political front, Hillary Clinton released her plan for covering the millions of uninsured. Of course, the Republicans and some Democrats were quick to jump on this as "Hillarycare," a "scheme," "socialism," and a "bureaucratic nightmare." Which is pretty much the same tact they used to derail the Clinton health plan back in 1993. Now, I am not going to say that plan was good, in fact, it tried WAY too hard to be everything to everyone, but frankly, I had hoped that her opponents this time would actually have something better to say than to rehash the buzzwords from yesteryear. Without having read the actual proposal, from what I have heard, I am encouraged. Basically, it will become law that everyone must have health insurance, just like it is for car insurance (yea, we care more about the health of our cars than our people). Then for those who are unemployed or unable to afford health care, they would have the option between Medicare and a package that is available to Federal employees. That program would be paid for by repealing the Bush tax cuts to people who make more than $250,000. There would also be tax breaks given to people who need help affording healthcare. Now, I am sure there are more specifics that are not being covered yet, but I really do not have a problem with this plan, right now. Granted, I do not, nor probably ever will, make more than $250,000 a year, but it really looks like Hillary has learned from her mistakes. It is a pretty middle of the road solution to an ongoing problem. It is pretty easy for the Republican candidates for president to scoff at this proposal, but where are theirs? It seems they are all still stymied by Iraq, and I cannot take four more years of bumbling conservatism. If this is the best you can do against Hillary, then you are handing her the presidency.

If you're interested in reading why I support Hillary Clinton for president, I have a blog repost of it here.

My body type will never let me be bulky. I just have to try to keep the swimmer look. So are you going to post progress pics? It might help you keep on target if you show the world.

Swimmers build, pfft. I hate you :-) j/k

I will try to post some progress pics. The main issue with it right now is vanity. I took a picture a few weeks ago, and I felt like a fat pig. So, I probably won't post a pic until I have a better bod to show. ;) I like the side by side comparisons, too. So, I'll be sure to try to get to a point where my self-consciousness lets me show it off.
